Jill Luckett Image
by Jill Juckett
This image was recently submitted to the visitors gallery, presumably by a client of Jill Luckett in LA, and I couldn't share it fast enough. Unfortunately I dont have the technical details on how it was shot but the things that stand out most about the picture arent really technical - other than the strong side lighting, which is probably my favourite way of lighting an artistic nude shot like this. What really makes this photograph work is the pose; it is elegant, demure and breathtakingly beautiful. The way the model is looking down towards her foot in the bottom left of the picture is perfect. It creates an air of self-reflection - the model seems to be lost in thought and the viewer is priviledged to share in her private moment.
The last thing to point out is the post processing: the contrast has been increased (which black and white photographs almost always benefit from) and a dark vignette has been added to emphasise the central subject. I suspect the background has been blurred a bit too, which again focuses you on the model and adds to the dreamy feel of the image.
