Top Five Photography Poses

photographic poses 2: lying on your back. Model Melanie ElbaI have been I have been getting a lot of feedback that you want more help with photography poses for your boudoir shots, so here are my top 5 suggestions. My advice is to pick the top 3 and make a note of them somewhere you can see during the shoot. Then refer to them if you get stuck.

  1. Lying on your tummy with head near the camera and feet furthest away. The picture can be framed with your bottom in shot, but it will be out of focus as your face is the focal point.  If you lift yourself up on your elbows, your cleavage can join the party.
  2. photographic poses 2: lying on your back. Model Natalia ForrestLying on your back, head nearest the camera and feet furthest away (as in the first pose). Focus is on the eyes, but you can see you lingerie (or lack of it) in the background.
  3. Kneeling down with feet tucked under your bottom. This generally produces a nice triangular composition and works facing the camera, a quarter turn  to one side or three quarters away (i.e. your back is nearly facing the camera). Being a compact pose, this works really well if you are tight on space in which to pose.photographic poses 3: kneeling. Model: Fiona Jane
  4. Full length figure: a bit obvious this one, but bear a couple of things in mind; either wear heels or stand on tip toes to elongate your legs and lift your bottom. Also turn your body slightly away from the camera to accentuate your shape. Having a wall to lean against or being in a doorway will give you more to work with as well.photographic poses 4: full length figure. Model: Fiona Jane
  5. Head and cleavage: position the camera higher than yourself, face three quarters away and look back at the camera. The shot should frame in tightly on your head and bust. Works equally nude or with lingerie. If you can’t get the camera high enough, try the shot lying down and looking back and up atht the camera. For an extra boost fold your arms underneath your breasts. This is a great shot if you aren’t happy with your bod; anyone can look good in this pose!photographic poses 5: head and cleavage. Variations

Every pose should form the basis for a series of shots. Try out different expressions looking directly into the lens and do more looking away from the camera – I recommend facing left, right and diagonally downwards to the left and right. You will find that some shots will work better than others, but each will have a different feel; do them all and throw away the ones you don't like later.Shop for sexy lingerie and more at Henry & June!

Another variation to try is raising your arms above your head or play with your hair. Not only does this create some great shapes and frame your face, it lifts your boobs.

Be careful not to block the light falling on your face though.
