Lighting Example: Side Lighting

Notes

1. Single light source to the side and slightly behind the model
2. Using a medium sized softbox to create a gentle lighting effect
3. You will notice that in the picture on the right Natalia's left side also seems to be lit almost as much as the right, where it is completely black in the resulting photo. The light on the left is actually coming from a small heater (the shot was taken in February and it was quite cold!) - though it is almost as bright as the modelling light it is insignificant compared to the flash itself, hence the resulting shot does not register the heater.
4. Notice that the overall size of the set is tiny: about 16' x 16'; this type of shot can easily be taken at home.
