Boudoir Photography Ideas: Movie Themes
In this part of the Boudoir Photography Ideas section we look at taking a movie as the them for your photos. These days movies hold a particularly strong place in our culture, so what better place to look for inspiration when planning a boudoir photoshoot?
In the example below I took a particular favourite of mine, American Beauty, as the basis. One of the recurring themes or scenes throughout the film was Mena Suravi naked in a bed of red rose petals, with the flowers hiding her bits. For some reason this stuck in my mind...
When it came time to take the shot I hadn't been back to study the film so based it on my impression - which was probably a good thing as it let me be more free in my interpretation; I didn't have to copy the lighting, makeup or poses from the original.
Instead we used side lighting and a black sheet to create a low key image that emphasised the model's contours.
Of course you don't have to limit yourself to American Beauty, pick a film that matches your own style or has a particular significance for you and your partner. A quick google image search on your favourite actresses will give you plenty of ideas. If you are still stuck, try these to start with:
- Jane Russell
- Marilyn Monroe
- Brigitte Bardot
- Jayne Mansfield
- Shannon Tweed
- Alana Soares
- Erika Eleniak
