Lighting Example: Glamour Lighting

Notes
- Main lighting is provided by two large softboxes in front and at 45 degrees to the model. This provides a beautifully soft light which is very flattering (hides wrinkles/blemishes).
- There is a further studio light behind the model shining light onto her hair. This is using a set of 'barn doors' in order to give a narrower, slightly brighter beam than the front lights.
- When setting up the hair light we had to use the barn doors to prevent (a) light hitting the camera lens directly and causing lens flare or (b) coming too far round to the right - because when Natalia turned her head too far in that direction, the light hit the end of her nose and made it glow!
- Note that this set takes up quite a bit of space!
- Ideally you want plenty of distance between the model and the background, so that the background will be out of focus. In this example the background is a print of a white screen door; if this had been in focus it would have looked unrealistic.
